InstaMed’s payment solutions work with a wide range of payment devices that read information from payment cards, checks or both. Information about specific payment devices and how to install and configure them can be found in the InstaMed Device Installation Quick Reference Guide.
There are five basic steps to setting up a device properly.
- (OPTIONAL) Install the InstaMed Device Service: For browsers that do not support ActiveX or Java or for payment devices that require a Virtual Serial Port connection, download and install the IDS from the Agents section here. An InstaMed implementation specialist can determine if this is necessary.
- Select and Install Device Driver: Download the driver from the device manufacturer or from InstaMed’s website.
- Connect and Validate Device: Connect the device to the computer, power it on, and confirm the computer recognizes the device correctly.
- Configure the Device: Each device has a specific configuration profile that must be selected in InstaMed Online. An InstaMed implementation specialist can indicate which configuration is necessary for your device.
- Test the Device: Once the device has been correctly set up, test to ensure payment information is accurately captured and transmitted.
Please contact InstaMed for specific questions about device selection and use for your particular environment and end users.
